BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee gather together in the capital to review, discuss, propose and approve policies. Today, at the sidelines of the two sessions, both minister and deputy minister from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security held a press conference on issues of employment and social security.
"We are still facing downward pressure on the economy, and the number of new jobs in urban areas in January to February this year has dropped significantly compared to last year. BUT, we are very confident we can provide good services for employment and meet the target of creating more than 10 million jobs this year. And therefore keep the employment rate stable," said Yin Weimin, minister of Human Resourses & Social Security.
The Minister said this year approximately 15 million young people graduating from high-school and above, and 3 million labourers from rural areas will be in need of a job. The government is taking measures to facilitate their employment such as providing training and professional services. He also said there will be new policies to encourage and support graduates establishing their own business.
